Growing up in a financially struggling home can be difficult, especially when your parents are always fighting. His parents were the irrational type, and in their troubles they had a habit of forgetting their two sons existence. Leland grew to hate them and associate irrationality of any kind with neglect and failure.
Despite this, he still tried to impress them, showing off how advanced he was in the art of conjuring, and proudly lifting furniture for his mother when she decided to rearrange their two home--"Look ma, no hands."
At the age of thirteen, however, he had grown out of trying to impress the angry couple. When he got his letter of acceptance, he couldn't wait to pack up and leave.
Mother: Lee Albrecht; has very little of a relationship with her, despite their closeness when he was small.
Father: Johnson Albrecht; has very little of a relationship with him, and never did.
Siblings: Flynn Albrecht; his brother, three years younger than him. Despite the fact that he loved the boy, he was always casting his shadow over him. It wasn't Flynn who was born with the runes of a guardian, after all. The eleven year old is still bitter about his elder brother's position in society and hurt that he left him with their parents.
